For Kids of All Ages
We live in a fast-paced culture that has become predominantly child-centered and we have lost the foundation of social norms and common ground rules that guided parents of previous generations. The anchor has been pulled up and many parents are drifting or being buffeted by the winds of achievement stress, peer pressure, guilt, confusion, time-management frenzy, child tantrums and the constant marketing messages to our kids that leave us feeling hijacked. Everything seems up for grabs at any age now.
Parents are all living in their separate homes trying to figure out what expectations are reasonable, what limits are healthy, what behavior is out-of-bounds. This challenge is compounded by the stress parents feel working long hours in careers and/or managing a household when there are more demands than ever before placed on parents to volunteer, carpool to activities, supervise (and do) their children's homework, arrange playdates, communicate with their kids and have "quality time."
How are we to raise happy, respectful, successful kids and keep happy ourselves when everything in the culture is going at breakneck speed with ever-increasing expectations?
This is where Parent Coaching comes in . . . yes, to save the day!
In addition to being a family therapist, I have provided Parent Coaching for 25 years and am a parent myself. My training incorporates Child Development, Temperament Studies, Positive Psychology, Behavior Modification, Family Therapy Concepts, Empathy and Communication Training and years of experience seeing what actually works. My clients end up feeling understood, empowered and competent.
I provide a non-blaming atmosphere with humor, clarity and guidance for parents to take a look at the demands and problems in their family life and then design a framework for their particular household (in some cases, 2 households) with strategies that work with their kids.
It's too tough to do this alone. I encourage you to get some concrete help and support now. I provide Parent Coaching in person or by telephone.
