Currently, I have a combined Psychotherapy and Life Coaching practice in Berkeley and Walnut Creek, California, which is thriving and rewarding for me.  In addition, I teach for the Core Strengths Coaching Program of the S. F. State College of Extended Learning, which I co-designed with the Director, Lauren Vanett.

I was originally trained as a psychodynamic therapist within the Social Work program at UC Berkeley in 1978-80. I worked with severely troubled young adults in a Day Treatment Program for 5 years right out of Graduate School. I learned an enormous amount about change, healing, mental illness and hope from my clients.

I then found myself training with some of the greats in Family Systems, Strategic, Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapies. I discovered that these orientations were the right path for me. I became part of a team of therapists who worked with individuals and families to help empower them to become fully functional in their lives despite limitations. In addition to a part-time private practice, I worked sequentially for the Family Service Agency of the East Bay, the Alameda County Social Services, and the Psychiatry Department of Kaiser Permanente.

At the same time, I taught family therapy courses in the graduate psychology department of JFK University and supervised graduate students in the intern counseling program.

After the birth of my children, I left Kaiser and gave full attention to my private practice which enabled me to set my own hours and nurture my family.

I have always included coaching in my clinical work but more formally trained to be a Coach with Ben Dean's Mentorcoach Training Program and Martin Seligman's Authentic Happiness Coaching Training Program. Both programs were exceptional, ushering me into the coaching world and the positive psychology community (IPPA). I was selected to be a group trainer for Dr. Seligman's AHC program and was involved in that exciting, purposeful work for its two year long run.

It has been thrilling to be part of an international network of coaches, therapists and educators helping others create balance, enduring happiness and meaning in their lives.

I would love to help you stretch and create the right path for you.
